Fresh look at Old Damascus

Volunteers from the National Union of Syrian Students in cooperation with Damascus Governorate carried out renovation works to restore and rehabilitate Old Damascus. This work covers rehabilitating and removing infractions and defacements from the plaza and square of Bab Touma and the doors and balconies of houses overlooking them all the way up to Bab Sharqi.

Mar 29 - The third Red Cross Red Crescent Oslo took place in Damascus hosted by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. The first Red Cross Red Crescent International Federation (IFRC)’s disaster risk reduction (DRR) meeting was held in Oslo in February 2009.

ICRC to transfer record quantity of apples from occupied Golan to Syria

Feb 15, 2011 – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) started transferring 12.000 tons of apples from the occupied Golan to Syria, three times more than in 2005.

IFRC starts a green project

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) started a new project on Mar 31, during the works of the Global Community Safety and Resilience Forum. 50 trees were planted in Harasta, North-East of Damascus, in different areas, which were given the names of the continents. The project started in Syria but will be extended to all the countries.

International School of Choueifat-Damascus celebrates 10 years

Mar 18 - The International School of Choueifat - Damascus celebrated 10 years operation with a gala dinner at Sheraton Hotel. The school, opened in Damascus in 2001, was the first private international school in Syria to be registered by the Ministry of Education.
